Absolutely.

I also think that since most avoidants had crap childhoods and/or struggle with social skills anyway, we make easy scapegoats. I often have the feeling I’m being held accountable to an anxious person’s unwritten rules, then punished for breaking them. Sometimes those rules are social norms, but sometimes they’re personal enculturation that the other person just expects me to pick up on. I tend to flee from people who try to punish me for not living by their unspoken standards rather than stay and try to duke it out. My way of protecting myself.
