Agreed, but I do think that the cost of conforming to a problematic or toxic work culture is high long-term. That is exponentially truer for people with marginalized identities who feel obligated to repress or ignore those identities within the context of corporate environments.
Conformity is also not always possible for those of us whose identities are written on our bodies. Fatness, Blackness, disability, or a working-class background are not things that can be hidden.
Ultimately, conformity to corporate culture is not feasible for everyone, and it is not designed to be. Corporate culture is designed for those at the center. What happens to those of us who literally cannot fit in?
