Companies want to hire experts at bottom dollar prices. That’s what entry level means these days.
Example: worked $20/hr for a university in a role with “assistant” in the title.
Was tasked with ‘running social media’ for the department.
Asked for parameters-brand details, what to post when, etc.
Was told basically “use your judgment.”
Worked w interns to come up with a plan.
Asked to meet with supervisor to get input.
Same feedback: use your judgment.
I am not a social media expert. This was a supposedly small part of my job, except that it’s actually an entire field with its own requirements. Even if I was an expert, your social media person does not decide what’s appropriate language, colors, basic info for your brand.
That’s how people post inaccurate info or get sued by stakeholders.
Dude. If you’re going to call someone an “assistant” and pay them assistant level wages, assume they will in fact require input on major projects from the person they are assistant to.
