I also want to point out that people who struggle to maintain professionalism often have good reason. Maybe she’s late because she has to drop her child off at daycare because their father just moved out. Maybe he exploded in that meeting because a client has been verbally abusing him all week.

We need to give people the benefit of the doubt and recognize the unseen burdens placed on marginalized people.
