Feels to me like the men who like me expect to just sit back, relax, and let me do all the work. It's like they assume that if they have the right professional accomplishments, or they're attractive enough, then they don't need to do anything at all to actually build a relationship with me. They expect me to be manic pixie dream girl, to show up in their life with no intentions or goals of my own other than to support them and help them manage their emotions. When that doesn't work out, they feel betrayed--and rather than recognize the betrayal comes from Hollywood and various misogynistic male authors, they assume I have betrayed them.

As a woman with personal and professional goals of my own, this whole thing is pretty dang frustrating. The same guys who admire me for my accomplishments are waiting for a fantasy that will never come true.
