First of all, consensual big hug if you’d like one.
Second, I love the idea that queerness opens up a much larger conversation about all the ways we can relate to our gender and to our bodies in general.
I really identify as a demisexual gender-fluid nonbinary queer woman. All those things feel true at different times. Each of those labels is a way to describe me that I can call on when I need to.
The more language we have, the better.
No one’s experience should exist outside the language we have.
But the language we have is imperfect and still evolving.
Our society hates women, but it also hates female people. At the same time, cultural norms may not change substantially in our lifetimes, and adolescents need to survive them-and when I look at 12 year old female children I see their vulnerability and it scares me.
So I don’t think there’s any one solution.
And thank goodness!
