First of all, you’re making some giant assumptions here. A lot of people take years to come to terms with different aspects of their identities. That’s not unique to me.
Second, you clearly have your “speechifying” hat on. You came to call me out and you’re reading everything I say through the perspective of wanting to justify your approach.
Nothing you’ve written here shows an honest attempt to engage with the complexities of Jewish identity, nor do you offer a clear-eyed analysis of the pain of being mixed-race.
I’m honest about my own identity and I’m honest about my reasons for writing as I do. Writing about my own experiences is my right.
