First off, you're misusing the term "oppression olympics." That term was invented to discourage comparisons between forms of systemic oppression, like poverty and racism. It was not invented to suggest that comparing forms of pain is unreasonable. A broken bone is not equivalent to a broken spine. It does not matter how much your broken wrist hurts. It is not going to paralyze you.
Medical practitioners use triage as a means to determine who is most in need of care. It is crude, but effective. It has no time for sentimentality or hurt feelings. It is about keeping people alive.
If you need help, get a therapist. Create art. Do what you need to do, but don't forget for a second that demanding attention for yourself takes attention away from other people. If those other people are dying from their wounds while you insist that your bruises are "just as bad," that responsibility is on you.
