For me, the lack of freedom is consistently the expectation that I will be able to predict what men/masc partners want and need, without them learning the communication skills to say it. That a relationship looks like and means whatever they think it does at any given time, and if I disagree, then I’m evil—and if I trigger them or make them uncomfortable, then I deserve to be punished. It’s impossible to have intimacy in that situation.
