Grew up in a tiny religious community. Lots of suspicion of outsiders, lots of child abuse, totally unrealistic expectations of women to be both the embodiment of sin but also its safeguard. For the longest time, I thought if a guy attacked me, it’s because I made him do it. This had real consequences for me even as an adult.

And the ongoing Jewish cultural expectation that women have no sexuality outside of patriarchal confines is real.
