I actually think the idea that society is changing in a positive direction is a demonstrably false one. Rape is more prevalent than ever, particularly among my generation, millennials. When I turn on the tv, I see white men in shows produced by white men.
The resistance is nothing new. There has always been resistance to gender norms and expectations. The difference is, with the internet, we can find each other and organize.
Whether we use these tools to change things remains to be seen.
