I agree that FGM and male circumcision are different—but not that different. If FGM were typically performed by western medical surgeons, and performed on babies, it would look a lot like modern male circumcision. Meanwhile most of us don’t see the botched procedures, the male babies who end up permanently scarred or even dead. Hundreds die from it every year.
