I agree that presenting traumas competitively only serves to further marginalize the people no one wants to listen to, while foregrounding the voices of those who are already centered.
If “I feel uncomfortable” is treated as equivalent to “I am objectively unsafe,” then no one has any impetus or social pressure to be mildly uncomfortable to keep vulnerable people safe.
