I appreciate your perspective. But I also think there’s a big difference between being a fat person, and being a fat person who is a member of a community and advocates for yourself as a marginalized person. Activism on behalf of fat people is important to me. It doesn’t have to be important to you—but if you’re not invested in the rights of fat people, it seems to me that is accepting your position as a second-class citizen and living in shame.
