I grew up with magazines like Marie Claire and I used to read them in the checkout line at grocery stores. All the stories in the sexuality section were about how to turn men on, how to make sex more interesting for men, how to make sex feel good for men. Those stories were never about how to increase women's pleasure. They certainly didn't acknowledge that so many women feel pain with sex, or turn sex down all the time because they don't enjoy sex. The idea that women don't like sex is a joke in this culture. It's rooted in physical pain and deep personal disgust at being mistreated, possibly experiencing sexual violation, and likely with a partner who doesn't understand and is deeply suspicious of her body and her emotions.
