I guess I feel like I have to think about what the other person is thinking and feeling, in order to protect myself.
That’s really sad. It means I don’t get to experience harmless flirting. I don’t get to experience harmless anything. I have to experience romance as threatening and upsetting because experience and my culture have shown me it’s more likely to be damaging than fun.
