I mean — I think women do this too much, though. Because think of it this way: this one little thing is not so little. You’re talking about it to a total stranger on the internet. So talk to him! Tell him you think he’s acting controlling and it’s upsetting you. Tell him you really need more autonomy and support to make your own decisions. And ask him to get some help to deal with his issues on his own. Because it’s fundamentally not your job to understand his motivation. It’s your job to take care of you and to defend your own boundaries. Don’t overthink your reaction. It’ll just have you on the internet telling a total stranger how he’s making you feel and triangulating outside the relationship, which is never awesome.
