I never understand why people play these mind games, but at the same time, I do get it. They’re afraid of you because they know you’re smarter and more skilled than they are. They convince themselves you don’t really deserve it, because you’re whatever adjective they don’t like—lazy, slutty, a liar, whatever. They then identify some aspect of your identity that’s weaker due to being marginalized and they keep pushing until you lash out so they can claim you’re crazy.
