I recently fought to implement DEIA at an org I was part of. Had the inevitable conflict with the wealthy white leadership when they realized I wasn’t going to be the cute little white mini me they expected and I actually expected to get some real goals accomplished. They tried to shut me down soooooo fast.
Didn’t work. Thankfully.
If it weren’t for the fact I happen to be white in addition to being biracial and disabled, though? They probably would have found an excuse to hire an outside consultant. And she probably would have been white.
