I think a lot of white women believe that all violence and anger can be repressed, at which point humanity will be safe and happy.
The fact that repression is tremendously unhealthy and simply does not work seems to have escaped these folks.
Truth is, sometimes you need to express yourself through actions rather than through words. If someone threatens me or someone I love, I'm not going to try to use my words when a gesture might do. It's clear this was the wrong gesture at the wrong time. However, it also seems eminently clear that this was not the first statement of disrespect from Rock towards Jada. Will was trying to protect someone he loved. He did a bad job of it, maybe. But his intention was noble. I truly believe that. Rock's intention was to denigrate. Yet he's been embraced as "the victim." Boggles my mind.
