I think the key with a narcissist is that they cannot accept fault. They need to rewrite the entire story of what happened and who did what, no matter how many lies they tell themselves or you. They just are not capable of recognizing their own participation in unhealthy dynamics.

I suspect they look for people who will accept and internalize their abuse and manipulation, and love them anyway.

We all want to be loved for who we are. But approaching someone to try to get what you can, without being willing to acknowledge the other person’s humanity and boundaries, is not awesome.
