I very much agree that it is vitally important to take men’s needs and potential trauma into account.

But can we please not be stupid about this, in the name of being politically correct? Every study shows what we already know, which is that the stereotype that men are rapists and women are rape victims is base in fact. Moreover, like most violent crime, men are responsible for nearly all rapes.

It does not diminish the suffering of male victims to point to the fact that rape is primarily about men harming women.

Not entirely. But primarily.

But since somehow focusing on female victims of sexual assault upsets just about everyone, we have to sit through stories like this one, reminding us that male rape victims exist — as though that’s news.
