I was raised in a patriarchal religious community. When I spend time in this community, the same thing happens, again and again. A guy acts interested, very obliquely, but is ashamed of his desire and he hates me for causing it. The closer we get, the more he hates me. If I act like I like sex, particularly if he thinks I’m flirting with someone else, the hate explodes.

It’s really not very attractive to be hated.
