I was taught from early adolescence to prioritize men’s experiences, to see men’s pleasure as normal and women’s pleasure as aberrant, to blame myself for the way that men around me responded to any vulnerability or sexuality in me by trying to grab me and take whatever they could regardless of my own intentions or wishes.

I’m always afraid. Always. But I don’t want to be afraid of myself anymore.
