I wish there was more analysis here of the fact that men compartmentalizing women is rooted in men objectifying women. Women do not agree to be placed in one category or another. Women are very rarely given insight into the borders of one category vs another. Categorizing someone based on their utility to you is inherently offensive. Women have a right to object to this behavior. Why should we 'try to understand' behavior that is rooted in harmful attitudes and stereotypes?
