I’m glad you wrote this, but I wish you had taken this opportunity to elevate the struggles of women who don’t have your privilege. The reality is, few men would care that you had a beautiful face if you were 80 pounds overweight, or chronically ill, and many of the men pursuing you now would not care about your face if you were black. You’re conflating your face with the privilege of your whiteness and your thinness here.
And you’re using that to avoid recognizing how much you depend on your privilege, or empathizing with women who don’t have it.
A pretty face is not equivalent to being beautiful according to the terms of a racist, sexist society.
