I’ve been homeless. I’ve spent years on food stamps. I’m the first to admit I mismanage money now and I buy things, usually different expensive food, I can’t afford. But that doesn’t change the fact that I’m employed full time and make roughly $800 less than I’d need to be basically comfortable, let alone save $. Rich people want to blame people like me because of how we express the trauma of extreme poverty. In reality, we’re trapped in the cycle of poverty and that includes blaming ourselves for how others blame and judge us for being traumatized now.
