Men are scary. Women have reason to be scared.

The effects of socialization don't disappear as soon as people come out as trans, but you make a very good point about the fact that you never identified with maleness and always felt you were simply performing.

The addition I'd make to your article is that an awful lot of men at this point are starting to whine about how masculinity have harmed them, without actually doing anything to disidentify with masculinity or with male privilege.

They keep hurting women, but you know, feel *really bad* about it.

So women have gotten used to hearing about how awful male socialization is from people who don't feel that invested in actually fighting it.

Since TERFs are often people who've been very harmed by men, it would be helpful for trans women to highlight commonalities like rates of sexual violence from men towards trans women. Visible trans women activists fighting sexual violence would do a lot to advance the cause of collaboration.
