No, but that’s the point. Not anyone can do this. If you’re a woman or in a wheelchair or very fat or have a criminal record, you can’t be sure you’ll get that job, however qualified you are. And even if you do get it, you’ll likely be penalized for asking for accommodations, or leaving work to get your kids, or taking time off for a medical condition, and you are vulnerable to being fired for no reason.

Your experience is real. But your experience and your opportunities don’t extend to an awful lot of other people. These are the people who dream of a different path. The corporate path has never been safe or accessible to us.
