Okay but serious question. A woman in my grad school just spent a lot of ink publicly attacking me for being the kind of disabled person who advocates for myself in a way she does not like—and no, she is not disabled herself. When I tried to stand up for myself, literally when I responded at all, she called that racist.
So like, yeah, in theory, of course.
But good faith assessments.
Anyone can get triggered and make a mistake I suppose, but also, some people are just busy being oppressive in a different way.
Direct quote: “I work with *severely disabled* children and they are so grateful. They never behave like you. Why can’t you be more like them?”
Imagine if I said that about working with Black kids? Except I NEVER WOULD because I am not a monster and the children I have worked with are not props.
