One of the terrifying things that stands out to me is that trauma causes inflammation, and repeated trauma damages the adrenal system in a manner that causes consistent inflammation and can lead to autoimmune disorders.

Medical science has speculated that obesity causes inflammation/autoimmune disorders.

Logic would suggest it is the other way around.

In fact, logically, trauma causes consistent inflammation due to PTSD and the ongoing release of cortisol and related chemicals, which then leads to obesity--and to autoimmune diseases, which cause joint pain and gastrointestinal problems, which make exercise more difficult and cause even more obesity.

Chronic trauma causes obesity.

Those of us with multiple marginalized identities are severely at risk for obesity and autoimmunity for the same reasons, and modern medicine's blaming us for our body's natural reaction to the harm we have suffered is blaming the victim.
