Personality conflicts are real, though I suspect they often simply boil down to very different and clashing cultural backgrounds. We all exist within specific subcultures, determined by the activities we choose and the demographic identities we hold. People who cannot reach outside of their idea of "normal" behavior are people who indeed cannot be reasoned with, and ought to be avoided.
