I appreciate your thoughts, but you've made a lot of assumptions here.

First off, the idea that I'm in a "self-destructive place" comes from--what?

I was actually just hired for my dream job. I made $1000 on Medium last month alone. I am finishing up my second graduate degree.

Is everything perfect? No.

But my life definitely does not suck.

Second, I choose to have a relationship with my mother because she has changed and because I have emotional needs, just like every other living creature. That does not make me weak or self-destructive. It makes me a human person.

Your individualistic approach to human relationships seems to work for you. That's fine. But it is not the answer for absolutely everyone just because it is the answer for you.
