The really awful thing is seeing the harm it does to men's self-esteem to truly believe that they cannot possibly perform basic duties in the home, like cleaning dishes regularly, washing their sheets, caring for the people around them, or maintaining committed emotional relationships. Meanwhile, women are expected to do every bit of that work. If we refuse, relationships inevitably fail, and men tend to respond with either narcissistic rage or utter despair and confusion.
