There is no excuse for abusive behavior but as a marginalized person, I have experienced abuse in many areas of my life that I have never seen accountability for, let alone justice. I have personally been occasionally held accountable for actual acts I regret, for emotional abuse, but more often I have been blamed or socially sanctioned for actions that made someone with more power over me sad, or angry, or uncomfortable, even if that person was outright violent towards me.
