This essay really struck home with me. I probably can’t have children because of my diseases and that has damaged my self-esteem very much. It’s also basically erased my value in the eyes of the men of my religious community. Yet men are rarely reduced to their erections or sperm, never mind something as painful and dangerous as birth.
