This is some white people nonsense. It’s perfectly reasonable to have a sense of context and to reject other people’s pleas for compassion sometimes. If I’ve been abused as a child, and someone else wants to complain about their parent’s inability to respect their emotional boundaries by calling at all hours, of course I won’t care. Particularly because that person is unlikely to be able to hold my own pain so gently.

I’m sick of people expecting me to have compassion when my life Exists outside their realm of understanding.

That’s not okay.

I don’t want that ability back. I want others to get a clue and quit expecting my free emotional labor.
