Unfortunately, people suffer trauma due to others' treatment of us because of our weight. The innate experience of being fat is not traumatizing, as evidenced by the fact that most societies historically have not particularly cared what people weighed so long as they were able to fulfill their social roles. Today, women's social role is to be attractive to any random men, but within a very narrow and socially constructed frame, which means we are obligated to be thin. When we step outside of that role, we are ostracized and attacked..which is where the trauma comes in.

Being fat or thin is not inherently good. It's society that turns each one into good or bad, painful or not.
