Unpaid internships can be amazing opportunities and there are scholarships available...but why are they so often a requirement? Why do programs make students volunteer, as though so many of us are not already dealing with jobs and chronic illness and taking care of elderly parents or children or a million other things? College needs to provide students with opportunities for networking that are not only accessible to students who can afford it. The reality that we have to pay to access basic opportunities necessary to use our degrees is ridiculous.
