We are all responsible for our actions. If I slap someone and then they beat my face in, do my actions justify his? Of course not. My actions might serve as provocation, but they do not serve as justification.

Her husband was within his rights to respond to her disclosure by asking for a divorce.

He was not within his rights to stay, but cheat on her and abuse her.

That says a lot about him.

It doesn't actually say a thing about her.
