Well, this hit home for me. It's amazing how many men have taken it upon themselves to pursue me balls-out regardless of how I responded, but if I started to like them back--and/or they perceived my social status to be dropping, or to be less than theirs--suddenly they barely knew my name. Because the other piece of this is that men like to flirt with and pursue women they consider to be beneath them, or not appealing enough to date seriously but hot enough to try to sleep with when she's right there and convenient.
