When I was at a party when I was 20, I passed out in the bed of someone I considered a friend. I woke up to him trying to spoon me. I did say no. I don't remember anything more happening to me. That doesn't mean nothing did.

The experience of being drugged and abused is unfortunately much more common than we all talk about.

As much as men are to blame for not having these conversations, women are also to blame. We don't tell the men in our lives about the physical pain we experience as a consequence of sexual violence. We don't talk about how afraid we are, even of our partners. We keep silent to keep the peace.
