White women acting on their own behalf is not "performative activism," it's activism.

White women are entitled to self-advocacy.

We are entitled to narrative arcs which center the experiences of a woman who is white.

The novel did not "erase" the experiences of women of color. It centered the experiences of impoverished white women, which historically have been pretty horrible and have included rape.

Not everything is about you.
