Women on the whole are taught to find abusive and emotionally repressed men sexy.

But what this article doesn’t tackle is how often men express their vulnerability by acting passive aggressive, anxious, jealous, and even abusive.

Men are socialized to treat women horribly. Understanding this does not mean women are obligated to tolerate men who scare us or harm us.

Men as a whole do not need protection. We can smash patriarchy “for men” as well as women. We can do so without telling men that it is not their responsibility to confront difficult truths about their own socialization. We can do so without playing mammy, eew, and protecting men from reality, as women have always done.
