Yeah, I've seen this happen. Outfitting "their woman" properly is seen as a source of pride to them, because she's an extension of themselves, just like their house or their clothing is. But she's just as much an object in their eyes as any of those things.

She's meant to embody their power, or the afterimage of their power. She's not meant to actually have any of her own or to have any agency.
