Yes, to basically all of this..but I think the latter is a problematic one. I’ve been told I need mental health support when I was seeing a therapist regularly. I’ve mostly been told that by people who had poor boundaries, and rather than ask me not to talk about my trauma they tried to shame me for speaking up.
I think it’s vitally important that we all stop telling each other to “get help.” It’s the other person’s job to decide what they need. It’s your job to decide what’s best for you. Therapy is awesome but it doesn’t fix everything. Folks with severe trauma have to learn to live with the scars. It’s easy for others to confuse our scars with damage, but it’s not.
